Blood Group: Diego

Common: <0.01% Caucasians, Blacks, and Asians are Dib- and at risk for developing anti-Dib.

Causes HDN: Yes
Critical Titer: 1:16
Information:

Anti-Dib usually only causes mild HDN [1], but can sometimes cause severe HDN [2].  "In Orientals, hemolytic disease of the newborn caused by maternal anti-Dib is likely to be more severe than that caused by anti-Dia." [3] Erythropoietin (commonly called Epogen) can be used to treat infants affected with anti-Dib [4]. IVIG can also be used [8, 10]. Despite the rare severe case, there are many cases of HDN from anti-Dib do not need treatment [1,8].
